My passenger door was really bad. Check the hinges for separation from the body. My upper hinge broke loose, and the lower one was the only thing holding the door! I had it welded and all is right. Lube the hinges really good too with some lithium grease. Once every oil change will keep your doors in good shape.

do a thread search as i have answered this one a bunch if times....dorman industries (google it) sells hinge/pin kits for the XJ you can order them through most parts stores. You will need a dremel to cut the old ones off in the middle as they are swaged over. The new ones use a circlip instead. A buddy will be good to lift the door off with as its heavy.

How do you get it off though? I know all 97+ are swaged & must be cut (not sure about earlier ones)...most are already bad used-wise anyways.
