Default Need Help Please

I have a 2000 Cherokee that just started acting weird. About 20min ago the oil gauge sits up at 80+ and idels at 40, and drives down the highway at 60, normally idels at half that. Any advice or know what is causing that. My guess is maybe the sensor is having issues.

High oil pressure is not an indication of the cracked head that i assume you are alluding to. I would guess a goofy sensor. Disconnect it from near the oil filter, clean the contacts and see what happens. I'm sure there is a way to test the sensor function but i don't know what it is. Hopefully someone that does know will chime in. Good luck.

Mine does the same... off the gas it drops on the gas it increases. I figured it wasnt a big deal unless I see the gauge drop to zero.

Replace the oil pressure sending unit and it should work correct after. It will cost about $50 for the part but takes like 5min to put on.
