Better to replace with fusible link, or with appropriate fuse and holder?

try a small wire like 18-20 ga. or a 10 amp fuse. if ok it will work, if a hard short it will blow again and you have more work.

im thinking a low value would provide safety. most fuse links are high value as you are showing. i always go low as a first test. the guy was looking for help. tell me why 10 amp is a problem?? am i missing something?
i really feel afraid to post anything yet i see others saying harsh stuff that i wouldnt. i really gotta be careful.

Why go to the trouble of adding stuff into the circuit that wasn't designed to be there, and increase the possibility of starting a fire...just test the links, replace the bad one(s), and be done.

I'm cool with replacing "like" components. Just wondering if there was any benefit to a wire/fuse combo as opposed to fusible link. I will get this done and post back.

Let me just say...I hate working on a truck that is at least 30 minutes away from my home and all my tools.

BTW, thanks to everyone who has reached out with advice!!!

Note from DJ

Sorry for the late reply. I just got over to the truck to take a look.
The suspect link is connected to the post/nut combination from the battery. There are two links..one black, one red. It is the red one that bends like there is no more wire inside.

I'll post pictures tomorrow.
