I have a Dana 35 I know it's not the best but it's also very loud whinning alot. I changed the fluid with some amsoil 75w 140. And added some additive didn't help. I do have a rear pinion seal leak and noticed the gears do have some wear. I was just going to drive it till it broke and put the Chrysler 8.25 or ford 8.8. Wondering though if there is anyway I can quiet it up in the mean time. How hard is it to replace the bearings? If that is causing the noise? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Well... if you're just going to drive it till it breaks, then replace it... why do you want to quiet it down? Whatever is causing the whining can't be all that good for the differential to begin with, so I'd say you're on track to your goal.
But if you're just going to replace it anyway, why wait?
