Default Need Help fast !!making deal 99 to 00 XJ

I would like to ask my fellow enthusiasts, I have a 99 that needs alot of work , but a STRONG engine and trans...I just got offered a deal for a 2000 with a "seized" motor....its MINT for $800 and I can probably get it for $650...its is MINT...can I take the motor from the 99 and just swap over the coil packs to the engine from the 99..or do I have to do anything else special...I will research more but I am standing at the deal and can go back shortly with cash...thanks~!

Even if the motor is seized, the other components may work off of it. At that point you may be able to frankenstein them together.

I dont have the absolute answer but I would jump all over the deal.

Yea. Guy's swapping another motor into a 2000-2001 can fab or somehow come up with the bracket for the coil packs. If there are other issues, they can be dealt with. It is done...I bit of a hassle though I think...(the bracket)

(make sure he wont take $500!...."My final offer!!" )(point put the driver door that is loose up and down, the broken center console lid)

I guess those years, the 0331 head can crack (often near the middle)(look down through the filler). Then coolant in the oil can toast the engine.

If you got lucky and found a "revised" head with a "tupy" foundry mark inside under the filler, that would accept the bracket and bolt on your engine...I think.

I've seen in another forum where a guy installed a 91-95 cylinder head on a 2000 4.0, instead of using the stock 2000 coilpack with some fabbed up brackets, he used a coil pack from a V10 Dodge truck engine. The V10 has two coilpacks, a 6 tower and a 4 tower pack, he used the 6 tower pack. Some simple wiring, a bracket mounted on the fenderwell, and some spark plug wires, it looked cool and worked great. Here is the link http://www.jeepstrokers.com/forum/vi...hp?f=26&t=2756
