Default Need help diagnosing trans issue

Hey guys I have a 96 Cherokee classic, 4.0 with aw4 trans and np242 transfer case 285k miles original drive train.

While heading to work this morning I started having issues with the transmission. Once on the highway it wouldn't shift into 4th gear, the highest it would go was 3rd gear with the torque converter locked. Once off the highway and coming to a stop, it wouldn't leave second gear. Engine will rev up but very little forward motion to show for it. Tranny fluid is a clear red, no leaks no smell. The only CEL codes at the moment pertain to the misfire issue I've been troubleshooting for the past week. I haven't had any issues with the transmission up until now that would indicate it or the torque converter were going bad. This past weekend I put over 400 miles on it without issue.
