Default Need help choosing wheel set up

I have a 2000 XJ with a 2" lift kit. I'm not planning on going with a bigger lift kit since it came this way. However the tires on there are stock. I'm curious what size wheel and tire package I can go with so there is no rubbing and at least a good amount of space in the wheel well.

I'd like to go with 16" rims... however I'm not sure what size tire would be best.

On tirerack the recommended size is 235/60R16, i'd like it to have an aggressive tire size, but nothing too crazy. I did search, but hard to find exactly what i'm looking for. Any suggestions and advice welcomed.

Thanks in advance

If you cut your fenders you can go pretty big.

Your asking a tough question. Every XJ will sit different, the springs arent all the same, havent been put thru the same stuff.

Your best bet would be to measure it out when your fully turned and flexed. See how much space is still between the tire and control arms, flares, etc.

If I had to guess, tho, I would say 30s.

Thanks, i'm not suspension guru so unfortunately i can only give so much info. i'd probably stay on the safe side with tire size.

I have this kit

I was guessing 29 is the biggest I should go.

With a 2" lift you should be able to put 30" tires with no problems. As long as you get the wheels with the correct back space.

I'm guessing spacers may help?

If you get rims with 3.75" or 4" backspacing you wont need spacers.

I dont like spacers personally. Just adding extra crap to break and cause trouble.

^^I do agree.^^
That is why I would get your new wheels with the right back space and you don't have to worry about the spacers.

My 98 has a 2" lift (spacers in front / OME springs in back) and I'm running 235/75 - 15 Firestone destination ATs with no rubbing. I did put Rough Country 1.5" spacers on later, but not due to rubbing; I just wanted the Jeep Ravine wheels (from and '06 Wrangler) to fill out the wheel wells a little more. The Ravines don't have a more "stock" offset, but still no rubbing problems.

I myself would find out what is the largest tire the stock rims take. Unless you want your tires sticking out the fender wells.
