Default Need help with brakes shoes.

I have a 1992 Cherokee Sport, 4.0L HO. I need to change the shoes but im not sure what size to get. I dont really want to take the drum off and measure because its my only vehicle so Id have to put it back together to go get the parts. Does anyone know if its the 9 inch or the 10 inch ones I need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Greg

easy way to tell: 10" drums have cooling ribs on the outside diameter of the drum, 9" drums do not.
bit of advise: email chrysler with the VIN # of your XJ and request the build sheet, will give you these little pieces of info SPECIFIC to your Cherokee

You're also going to need to know how wide the shoes are.

basically heat sink ribs, they are raised lines around the outside diameter of the brake drum used to disipate heat from the drum

Ah, I see. Mine definitely do not have them unless they've rusted off lol. I'll take a good look but its sounding like the 9 inch ones are what I need.

This is the first time i've done shoes. Ive done pads many times but I was wondering if there are any special tools I will need when doing this? Im ordering a new spring kit for them as well.
