I pulled a auto dimming mirror from a zj and need help wiring it I searched and only found the diagram for the one with 5 wires mine has 3

 

Did you look in the wright up section?

I know one wire is power, one is ground, and one is switched power. I'm doing the same thing to my ZJ. I'll check back in once I find a wire diagram tonight.

 

what year did the donor mirror come from

 

On the back of the mirror you'll see a part number. Should be a Gentex mirror..

Take that number and add to Gentex in a Google search... lots of guys swapping mirrors in so the info is out there.

I have a Gentex177 in mine, so my harness wont be the same.

I assume you have the part of the harness that plugs into the mirror, so here is the break down:
yellow/dark green = switched voltage
black = ground
brown/light green = voltage only when the vehicle is in reverse.
This is for the 1995 ZJ, but I think all of the three wire plugs would be the same.

 

Thanks man your right is the reverse mandatory?

 

I don't know, but you can just tap into the wire for the reverse light to power that wire up.
