Hello, as some of you already know my XJ was stolen not too long ago, and recovered with a burned engine compartment. I have a 1990 XJ Laredo 4x4 with the inline 6 cylinder RENIX engine.
I have most everything replaced now, but am stumped about the wiring harness. It's a complete loss, so repairing it is out of the question. I have found out the HO engines have the ECM located in the engine compartment, while my RENIX has the ECM under the dash next to the steering column.
I went to a local junkyard to find several XJ's (and even got my #703 injectors!) but ALL of them had different harnesses, even the RENIX models.
The 1989 was the closest match, but had a disconnect at the emissions label on the firewall, it has one less sensor on the engine block, and had a sensor on the thermostat housing (mine does not). It also has all gauges on the cluster same as mine.
I guess with the ECM from the 1989 model I could add the sensor on the T-stat housing and that would work, but could I use the HO harness and ECM, or are all the sensors incompatible?
Thanks in advance for any help.

ECM interchanges 1987 to 1990 as long as you get one from a vehicle with teh same trans you have, auto or manual. 89 and 90 ECMs provide better throttle response and power.
