Need clarification about Aux. fan and AC ?

Need clarification about Aux. fan and AC ?
If my XJ is not overheating and stays between 200 and 220 does it matter if the Aux fan comes on or not?

Engine: 4.0
I believe if the computer senses the engine temp reach 220 or around there it will automatically turn on the aux fan. It should also turn on with the AC.
