Default in need of the brake expert

i drove my non abs 4.0 94 auto xj for the first time since i bought it and the brake pedal is more than scetchy it looks to have good pads and fluid dont appear to have a leaky line anywere but the pedal goes down over half way easy and you gotta push it probably 3/4 of the way to stop very soft and spongy cnt pump it to make it better either.i was thinkin brake booster what do you guys think is my problem

The brake booster assists in braking when the engine is running so you dont have to push as hard to stop. When they fail, you will have a very hard to depress pedal. Your problem is either the master cylinder or miss adjusted rear brakes. There could also be air in the system from the last guy's poor attempt to bleed it.

Go get you a good vacuum hand pump/bleeder kit from the parts store and follow the directions on the box, it will help wondersif you have air in the lines and thats what it sounds like it could be.
