hi there guys first of all i'l like to introduce myself , i'm new here , my name is Martin(aka Mack), i live in Costa Rica, Central America, i have a 1989 cherokee(off road proyect) and just recently i got a 2000 cherokee xj, i was checking some of the post and i know i'm in the right place , need your help with a transmission question, here it goes:

with the 2000 cherokee xj , the trasmission is busted and was thinking on changing that , but this is the question,

i know my car has this transmission: Aisin-Warner AW-4 4-speed automatic
i also know about the difference on the spline count, if i'm not mistaken mine is 23, , taking this in cosideration , are all the AW-4 the same? , can i use any AW-4 with 23 spline to change it for mine , are the electrical parts, sensors, and plugs the same from any earlier model with 23 splines.

i do know something about mechanics , but this is the first time somehting like this happends to me with cherokee's and i ask 2 guy's the sell cherokee parts and they did mention something about been completely different , and lookng on line , i don't see any difference, that's why i'm here asking you guy's the really know about this , thankx on advance by the way
