I have a cher. sport 2wd with 5spd manual trans and today when i started to drive, outta the blue when i let off the gas i heard this loud clanking sound, does it in all gears except 4th when i left off the gas, but goes away pretty much if i push the clutch in, and when it does make the sound (sounds like its coming from right under the gear shift) i can feel it vibrating on the stick.. this just happened out of the blue, it always had kind of a slight rattle from teh clutch (still does) but was told that was common and nothing to worry about, if someone could please lead me in a direction to go, id so thankful

 

just a bit of an update, i checked the tranny cross memeber and its fine, also checked the drive shaft on both ends and its solid.... ugh

 

no one with any ideas?

 

wow i figured a jeep forum would be the best place to ask for advice.. but maybe not
