Bought a 97 Cherokee 4.0 thought sound was belt or something that connected to the belt but it sounds like it's coming from under valve cover maybe lower I'm not sure http://s1283.photobucket.com/user/Jo...4d201.mp4.html

 

I would start by tightening the belt. The belt on the 4.0 has to be really tight. Tighten a little at a time until the squeal stops. If it doesn't removing the belt and check all of the pulleys to make sure that they spin free and are not loose. Also make sure that the belt isn't glazed over.

 

I thought it was the belt too but it sounds like it coming from the motor area more idk lol

 

My XJ just had the engine replaced and with all new belts and such. My noise happens upon start. After revving a few times and after a few minutes the noise goes away. It sounds like it is around air intake to engine. Any ideas anyone?
