Mystery of the freak door locks
I recently tried to replace the door locks on both front doors on my 1989 XJ but the stock replacement parts didn't fit. The locks we bought were smaller then the original ones. So my question is: will 1990 or 1993 and up XJ doors fit so perfectly that I wouldn't know if someone had switched them out before I bought it? Also, is are the door lock cylinders different for either 1990 and up or 1993 and up?
Anyone?

All second generation Cherokee's (84? - 96) have the same fenders. Third generation (97-01) are the same way, but have different panels from the 2nd gen.
I broke into an 88 at a junkyard a few days ago (Some *** took the inside rocker and the rod connecting it, and left it locked) and the lock looked different from the one on my 92. So i think the are different.
