What is this ? Located below Distributer, wires go into harness. It broke off when I changed oil. It is a 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ 4.0

Oil pressure sensor. I would not run the engine without replacing it, as it might start spewing oil. If you have an oil pressure gauge you need an oil pressure sensor. If it's just an oil warning light then you need an oil pressure switch.

Even better, if it did spew oil it would empty the engine in under 3 minutes and you would have no way of knowing since it is the thing that would tell you. You would get the bad news when the engine seized solid.

Well in any case it would start spewing the oil the moment you start your engine to check for leaks after your oil change...that's why you check. If you don't, this will happen.

If its the sensor and driving around ignoring your gauge pegged to the left: then you deserve it.
