Hey I've got an 89 XJ with a few small problems, I'm just wondering what little things i can do to get it running cleaner and smoother.

Here's what ive got so far:

Low fuel pressure, I'm assuming its becuase the filter gets clogged easy from 22 years of crap in the tank. I replaced the filter once and the pressure shot right up.

Stalls if throttle is at certain point, sometimes stalls for no reason. I'm assuming this is because of a bad CPS and the low fuel pressure, but my vacuum system was lookin pretty ugly when i first got it. I cleaned it up but maybe there's still problems.

I need new rotors, pads, and my brakes need to be bled.

I gave it a tune up including sparkplugs, wires(beefy wires at that) rotor and distributer cap.

The CPS needs to be replaced.

Oil change is due. I'm curious what you guys preffer for oil and filters, i used 10w-40 non synthetic with my old jeep cause I have a tendency to really beat them up.

thats about it as far as i know.

and the question is???

sounds like you already know what needs to be done...
some basic tune ups and flushes might just be all it needs.
new trans filter and fluid, oil change, tune up and replacement of those parts your thinking is where to start
but until you fix the stuff you know/possibly think is bad. you / everyone else wont know what to tell you either

i use rotella or royal purpel for my oil personally

the question was more of "i know these things are wrong, but what else should i look at on a 22 year old jeep?" but yeah, i know alot of what it needs. I have some issues with my trans though, it shifts pretty late and i crawl going up hill, it barely reaches 85 on level ground.

Hey i finally dug a question out of my ****. i want to put a bigger lift in my xj but I'm not sure how to go about it. I've got 2 inch blocks in the rear but I wanna go with an additional 4 all around, making the front 4 and the rear 6. there are all kinds of lifts out there but i dont want to half *** anything. what all will I need in order to make this lift work the way its supposed to? I wish i could keep it cheap but thats not easy if I wanna do it right. And I was wondering what the best options are for front and rear differentials, I think the 96 xj im currently parting out has dana 44's. also for my final question, my dash has a water temp gauge, large gas, small voltage, small oil, large speed. I want to swap to the cluster with the large tach and small gas, how hard would it be to do the swap? would i have to change alot around?

Haha, I remember the old cluster. There was a symbol on my 88 xj that I never knew what it was for. Then I found out that it is a light for low fuel... But I remember looking into that one time, and changing out the cluster just seems like a time consuming job, I have never done it but I have looked at a few write ups on it.

I figure since i laready started this thread about my xj i'll just drop all my questions in here. I'm reading that you need a drb2 to diognose the 89 XJs. my question is, how hard would it be to swap everything with the computer in my 96 xj? would alot have to be switched over or is it pretty much a direct fit?
