My XJ does not wanna reach 200K!
*Long story/rant!*
Love my Jeep. It just does'nt wanna hit the 200,000 mile mark! Ha ha it's soooo close. Got it @ 191K. Shortly after i had to rebuild the motor due to a broken piston skirt. Discovered it had a JY motor in it already. So at least two motors so far.
Has been doing pretty good lately. Altho i had to replace the CPS.
Now it's having no start issues again. Found the problem to be the NSS this time. So i went and bought one- $245. OUCH.
BUT i thought i'd try "jumping the wires" first. I've seen it done on other cars before. And i know not to start it in gear. I have an AW4 BTW... Stuck a paper clip (redneck i know!) in the B & C posts of the connector and...
It started right up!!!!!!
I was happy and took it up the road. But, it won't shift into 2ND gear???? I don't need to ruin my trans. So i guess i should just replace the switch?
Thought someone here may be able to help. $245 was in my savings for a lift. Don't wanna replace the NSS if i don't have to.
Thanks for reading! And thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks that's a good idea. May try that in the morning. It's been showing signs of going bad lately. Noticed my back up lights were'nt working a while back. Then it would'nt start a few times. If i jiggled the shifter it would start right up. Just got a bad feeling i'm gonna end up replacing it. Guess i'm gonna have to stop being a cheap @$$!
