Hi, Im new to the 4x4 world and just picked myself up a 92 XJ for a 1000bucks. Ive owned it almost three months now and its lots of fun in the bush and on trails. However im wanting to upgrade to 4.5inches of lift soon and am not sure if my rear axel is the Dana 35 or the Chrysler 8.25". Is there a way i can find out? I dont have the owners manual or anything. Also i realise this is probobly a noob question so make fun of me as you may.

Thanks Man. That really helped and now i know that it is a dana 35. Do you think it would look funny to run my 31's with a 4.5inch lift? because i still want articulation without cutting out my fenders.

no it actually looks really well, as long as your tires have an aggressive tread it will still be very capable. the dana 35 will handle 31's no problem.
Best Of Luck with your build!!! 31's with a 4.5 inch lift shouldnt rub when you turn either, ive got 33's on a 4.5 inch lift and i rub bad LOL

Thanks again Wheeler, and What do you think of Zone Offroad Products? do you think rough country is any better? because the guys at my local shop (westshore 4x4) told me that Zone Offroad will bring me the best product for my buck.
Cheers

i run 31's on a 4.5-5" lift, and it fills out and flexes nicely IMO

the only thing with zone offroad, at least what i saw on the website, is that they come only with aal. and rough country comes with full leaf kit. also the rc lift gives you sway bar disco's. i havnt heard any thing about the new flex joints from rc. but have heard that they control arm joints were a major weak spot on the rc. but i plan on buying the 4.5" from rough country next summer.
