Hey all,so I'm kinda wondering if I over did it with my "be ready kit". Since I started wheeling I've always been told to be prepared for anything. So along with my winter gear, recovery stuff and tools I've put togeather a kit with oil change kit,2 gals of 50/50 coolant, enough gear oil to fill both diffs, enough tranny fluid to fill it,and fluid for the t case. I also have an empty 5 gal bucket and drain pan incase of a leak. I got all of this incase I have something happen that would cause me to loose any fluid. Is this over kill? Thoughts input .02.......
As long as you have tools for trail repairs, overkill never hurts! grab a couple d30 front shafts with good u-joints and junkyard unit bearings, in case of trail breakage. Replacing a shaft is way easier than a joint when you don't have a vice, and a junkyard unit bearing will get you home until you can get a good new replacement.

If your only wheelin 5 miles from your house I would have to say yes but if your farther and actually 1-2 miles + in the woods than you can never be over prepared.

Your missing a fire extinguisher. Last jeep we tried to help in the woods came prepared, sort of like what you have here. Except they forgot a fire extinguisher and we didn't have one either. There jeep caught fire and burnt to the ground.

But a fire extinguisher and first aid should be the first things on your list.

TJ and YJ axel shafts are the SAME as the XJ.
It's always good to be prepared. But, consider this. You can decide for yourself. At least as far as the values of some thing you are carriing. IF the fluid loss is not due to a broken hose or the result of a repair. No amount of fluid will be enough to get you home. Pre-trip maintenance will lighten the spare parts and supplies you need to carry.

Ahh that it true. I guess I was over thinking. Its not like I go wheeling solo. Only time I go solo is if I'm camping to get away lol. So I guess just coolant, diff fluid is all I really need to carry for trail situations along with fuel. And I thought the wranglers had different front axle shafts than the xjs. Cool thanks guys
