Default My new "used" Jeep

Hey guys, I just bought my jeep off my uncle and I was wondering if any of you would be able to help me out a little. This jeep will be my daily driver, its the 4.0L inline 6 with about 170,000 km on it. I want to lift it around 4" but I know there's a point where I will have to do extra work like long arm suspension and I think something to do with steering. I was wondering if someone could tell me whats the limit on suspension lift before extras need to be put in, and how much labour and money does that extra stuff take?

Thanks for any help.

I forgot to mention it's a 97 cherokee xj country edition

You can go up 3 to 4 inches without having to do tc case drops or SYE, replacing brake lines, etc etc

the older XJ's have less problems with vibrations...however the newer ones have a different output on the transfercase, making it more prone to vibes after a small amount of lift. I would recommend getting a SYE for over 3" of lift. 4.5 and up i'd say you would want long arms, but 3 to 4 is fine for short arms. What size tires are you looking to run? Are you looking to wheel it or mostly daily drive it?

The jeep may see some slight offroad use mostly to reach campsites and the like, currently I'm running LT235/75r15 which are 29" I believe, how big could I get away with a 4"-4.5" lift? would a tc drop be needed with a 4.5" lift?

actually I'll probably just go with a 4" lift, half an inch isn't worth all the extra work and money for what I want. Other than a SYE, would anything else be required in a 4" lift? please list everything as I have no idea what would be needed.
