It makes a crazy sound around 2.5k-3k rpm, I'm not exactly sure because I dont have a tach. It comes and goes daily and I cant really notice any loss of power except that I have to shift at like 1800rpm. It sounds kind of like when you put a baseball card in the spokes of your bike, like a metallic ticking from the passenger side under the hood. It's a very uniform sound every time and it gets louder the higher the rpms. I'm really hoping that it's nothing inside the engine.... but I have no idea? It almost sounds like one of the fan blades is hitting something, but I would think it would make the sound all of the time if that was the case. It goes away when I push in the clutch, I'm not sure if it's because the rpm's are going down or if its because the problem is somewhere in the clutch. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate anything. Thanks guys

Well, my fan shroud is loose but it only happens when the car is in gear and moving... maybe I'll throw a screw on that and see if that helps. I do like the clutch master fluid idea, although I did just have it replaced about 2 months ago, maybe it's just leaking, but I believe that it was making the sound before I took it in. I'll check that header while I'm fixing the shroud, but I would think it would be a pretty obvious sound if I listened to it while the hood was up, but I will look at it. Thanks for the ideas, this is my winter car so I dont really know much about these things, just that they are bad *** in the snow! I'm really a GM guy at heart, I have an 11 second z28 that will be out in about a week anyway, I just dont want to put the jeep away with problems for me to remember when I need it next winter.

Touque converter bolts. Check them. If they are loose tighten them and use some red thred lock. Mine came loose and it sounded like the lower end was comming apart.
