So I'm driving on the highway up to Kelly Flats and I'm doing about 65 and my hood decides it no longer wants to be a part of my car and hits my windshield. I was able to keep my eye on the white line outside my window to keep the car straight and got it pulled over pretty easily, but now I have a hood that's bent in half, and it does not close right. I'm wondering if I just replace the hood if I'll be ok or if I have to change other stuff out. The problem is when I open the hood, the end that's closest to the driver gets stuck on my plastic rain gutter cover. My rain gutter cover is really screwed up along with whatever the little squares are right on top of the hood hinges. I'll take pics tomorrow, but I just wanted to throw this one out there to see if there's an easy fix.

Cool, I'll hammer out the hood and get new latches and see where that get's me. What are the little squares that are to the right and left of the rain gutter and can they be replaced?

Dude, if your hood folded, youd be better off just dropping $25-$50 for a salvage yard hood. Get the hinges too. Also, odds are your latches didnt fail, the hood just wasnt closed all the way. The "rain gutter"; are you referring to the plastic piece between the windshield and the hood? If so, thats your cowl panel and those litte black squares are your windshield washer squirters.

Get a pic we can say for sure what they are. If you can get a new hood for25 bucks then just do that. Paint it black if it don't match and it won't look too bad.

I think you're talking about the metal parts on outside of the cowl. IIRC that's where the hinges attach.

Taxidave, that's exactly what I was talking about. I'm trying to find a car on craigslist I can pull everything off of because our junkyards don't allow you to pull it and they have carefully priced out every little part of the car to nickle and dime you on things like this.

Not the same, not sure where the change is. The kids 85 has one latch in the center and the hood rod is in the front instead of on the side. Wifes 89 has has two latches on the corners and hood rod on right side. So at least 89 and newer.
