Here is my "middle" inner shift boot. Its pretty simple to do.
I took the stock inner shift boot, and cut off all the rubber, so that all thats left is the metal mounting bracket. Then I cut out a peice of rubber from and old lawnmower inner tube. The new peice needs to be slightly larger than the metal bracket, so that it moves when you shift gears and doesnt mess with the hole. Cut a hole in the center, but a bit closer to the dash. Installation is pretty straight foward.

That looks pretty good and I dont have any room to pick on anything but I would have made it bigger so that the top sits up higher on the shifter and put a clamp on the shifter so that the whole peice of rubber moves with the shifter and it gives a better seal. Jst my 2 cents.
As someone who has battled these things and made some ghetto solutions, that is some nice work there! Well done.
Did you separate your shifter to put that on, or did it slide over the big bulbous part of the shift handle assembly?

Thanks.
If I still had my carpet in, I would have made a better seal
And yes, the rubber was stretchy enough to fit over the bulb part, so I didn't pull it apart.
As you can tell by the oil stain on it, I need to replace my actual inner shift boot.
After I was done, I put the mini console and outer shift boot back on.
