So, I just bought by very first Jeep. It's a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0 litre, straight 6.
So far, I absolutly love it but there are a few things I need to fix. One is my emergency flashers do not work when I flip the switch. Instead I hear a fast ratcheting noise or nothing at all. Although, my turn signals work fine. Thoughts?
Second, my emergency brake has no stopping power at all. I crawled underneath and saw that the "tensioner" for the E brake was halfway up the threads. Can I tighten it the rest of the way, or would that not make a difference given its already so loose? I'll post pictures later.
Thanks everyone!

You may want to check the flasher in the fuse panel. There are 2 different ones,
one for the turn signals and one for the emergency flashers. On the E brake try tightening the tensioner some more...Tj

Thanks, I appreciate the input, but I was wondering. Is there more than one fuse panel? So far I'v only found one under the hood on the left side.

my 2000 had same problem. Fix is simple: the flasher/hazard (it's a combo - one unit controls both functions) is located behind the knee panel under the steering column. I found it easier to take the whole thing off to see what I was dealing with, otherwise you have to be a contortionist to remove. Once that was done, just unhook the old and pop on the new. $15 at NAPA. Hope this helps
