well i have an 85 jeep that i have been working on and tracking down all the problems and the last problem im having is that it likes to stall in drive and reverse. it doesnt stall everytime but the idle speed drops a lot. i have rebuilt the carb and changed all the vacuume lines and i cant find any leaks anymore. so im just looking for places to start looking and how i might be able to fix it. i guess a good thing to add is that its an auto trans.....

I too have an 85 cherokee auto that stalls in reverse everytime unless I hold the brake and rev the engine immediately after i shift into reverse. Its quite annoying. I dont stall out in drive as often yet when I park even on level ground, after letting off the accelerator it'll stall mid-cast. Also struggle going up hills even while puttin the pedal to the floor. Hard to maintain 50mph. Smokes some from engine (possibly radiator) after climbing large hills...any ideas of what to fix?
