My Cherokee is to SLOW!!!
Hi everyone My jeep has a 6 inch lift in front and 2 inch in back on top of the stock lift it has 255/75/R 17. Idk if the bigger tires slow it down or not but i bought it with them. With It has full MSD except for cap and k&n air filter with throttle body spacer. I recently have changed solenoids in transmission But I'm thinking because they were only 150$ brand new they were cheap quality and maybe i need to buy different ones. The reason i mention this is because when I'm going 55 the rpm is at 2100 rpm(its the 1st tick above 2000rpm) And i honestly think that's way to high for 55mph. And it seems to not have a first gear the transmission won't shift till about 30mph from a stop.. ANY help would be appreciated

Stock gears? Was the speedo calibrated for the larger tires and/or gearing change?
My '96 shifts from 1st to 2nd at 20mph, and 2nd to 3rd at 30mph. It will go into OD and lockup by 45mph and turning 1500rpm. IIRC, its turning 2200 rpm at 65mph.
If you select 1-2 do you feel like you're in 1st? If the S1 solenoid isn't working, you won't get 1st when in 3 or D.

It's probably those butt ugly wheels. Try replacing them. But seriously, what engine does it have?

If it has stock gears its gonna feel like its geared a little tall. 255-75-17 would be roughly 10.4" wide and 32.6" tall, so considerably taller than stock. If your speedo hasn't been regeared, it should be off by more than 10%.
Regardless of what your speedo indicates, the internal ratios should have it shifting from 1st to 2nd at less than 30mph unless you have a heavy foot. Likewise, you shouldn't be turning 2100 rpm at 55mph. I'll have to check and see how many revs mine does in 3rd at 55.
Have you tried shifting manually? With the fuse for the TCU removed or the TCU unplugged, 1-2 will get you 1st, 3 will get you 3rd and D will get you OD, but it shouldn't upshift or downshift other than 1-2 at 4500 rpm via pressure shift.
You could be onto something about your solenoids. They can be tested through the female end of the 7 pin connector at the trans dipstick tube. 12-18ohms is considered normal.
I had to replace my S1 solenoid, and it was ~$230 just for the part from Jeep (OEM AW solenoid). Napa and Autozone had similar prices for the same S1, but I don't know who the maker is.

Before I replaced the old soleniodes I unplugged the Tcu and it shifted fine and everything but sence replacing I have not unplugged it. I'll do it when I get Idc work and let you know. I might go to dealership and invest the money and get legitimate parts. It will break my wallet but I'm willing to for my jeep. Also I noticed when I replaced the solinodes the black plastic. That covers the connectors were not there would that make a difference?

I had to make a short run to the store and did notice 55mph in 3rd was about 2200 rpm. It almost sounds like you have 2nd and 3rd, but not 1st and OD.

Did you try adjusting the TV Cable? If your transmission is forgetting when to shift, start with the basics.
