So what's the issue with the cooling? Its hot outside and its running at a perfectly normal 210? Creeps up to 218 when you stop and there isn't as much air going across and then the efan kicks in and it doesn't get any hotter. Sounds like a perfectly functioning cooling system. As for the cat who knows could have been water off the ac dripping onto the cat.

Cdawall, he said in an earlier post that the smoke smelled funny, like oil or something. Just a heads up.

Yeah, no kidding? I read through the entire post, btw. I have nothing better to do right now. Don't have the necessaries to work on the Jeep right now. So I'm lurking around the forum...

Thanks for the posts guys. Glad I'm not the only one who lurks on here reading every post almost. Haha. Not water I don't think. It would smoke more often I think and wouldn't be very noticable. Could be oil I guess....but my oil is spot on every time I check it. I do notice when I change my oil some oil is leaking from the main seal I believe. Very very little. Common for the Cherokees 4.0 aint it? It's not bad at all. Doesn't leave drips on the ground. But I notice its usually coated in oil where the drain hole is. My guesses are tranny fluid or oil for right now....leaning toward tranny fluid. I will have to rack it up soon. Probably Thursday. Wife drives it mostly. But I will clean it up big time. I usually brake clean the crap out of it. Never gets bad tho between oil changes. Wasnt even that dirty when I bought it.

Just remeber that your oil dipstick measures a full quart between "ADD" and "FULL"... A few drops of oil wouldn't register. Good to know you have such a good running jeep. An alternative to sealing her up so tight would be to fab a heat shield around the cat and the trouble spot.

That I do know. But it reads right at full. And hasn't moved since the last oil change. Roughly 2500 miles ago. I do have some heat shields I kept off of cars I worked on at work. So I may do that now that you mentioned it. Thanks for the idea!

Welcome, man! Time to do some body armor underneath while you're at it! I love skidplates!

Another good idea. I have a Toyota tundra skid plate I need to mod and cut to fit the jeep. But I think it will work. At least it will be something.
