I was sitting @ a red light with my blinker 0n making a right

and it was going:
rapid 3 blinks ~normal 2 blinks ~ slow 1 blink ~ repeat ...

what the heck?

I have been having intermittent starting issues lately...

battery is brand new - contections good.

any thoughts?

Sounds like one of your bulbs on that side is out.

I think it could be your flasher. Its cheap and easy to change, thats what i would try. Don't know about the starting issues.

Usually when the blinker indicator on the dash flashes abnormally it means that a light is out out on that side. My 95 just blinks faster when a flasher or tail light is out

Not sure if this help but I rear ended some one late last year and when I hit my 4 way flashers they flashed more rapidly than they my normal turn signal. after I fixed it all up it went back to the normal speed, I didn't replace anything except body panels, no CPU codes either, I never noticed this with my turn signals just the 4 ways after the crash

If the 2000 uses a standard old-school plug in type flasher, they operate on heat related to the amp load. If that is what is in it, I'd say it's crapping out and to replace it for about $4.

If it uses a little computer box like most newer cars do, it could be a light out or something else in the wiring.

Thanks for all the replies.

I will check both the lights and the blinker switch itself.

Yep
Found one blinker out - a side marker on the left side though

- I am planning on checking the grounds for the starting issue -- especially the battery cables.
