Default my 97 cherokee 4.0 not running right

i have put i bunch of new parts on 97 and it still doesent run right, this is what it is doing. going down the road it will stall for a sec. the check engine light will flash on or stay on, it will do the same thing sometimes when you hit a bump in the road. sometimes it will die completely but starts back up. if you floor the gas taking off it will spit and slutter like its not getting enough gas or fire or something. i have changed these parts, sparkplugs, wires, cap, rotor, pickup coil, coil, fuel pump and strainers, map sensor, idle air sensor, O2 sensor, the only thing with o2 sensor the factory plug was gone, so i had to hard wire the new sensor, not sure how to wire it, on the new sensor i have 2 white wires a grey and black, can any one help?

my jeep is doing the SAME thing. but mine just does it right at the beginning of my travels. I go to take off and then it stalls, and some light backfiring. I'm thinking fuel pump, as our fuel filter and pump are one. Mine keeps destroying O2 sensors too. I think because the computer defaults to a "rich" setting which puts more fuel down the pipe causing the O2 sensor to fail.

let me know if you ever find a cause, and i will do the same.

where did you get the new sensor from, they should have directions in the box that tells you how to hard wire it. I did it for my sister's car once, that was a pain.

i had a simular problem to yours , i changed my fuel pump and since its a 97 all the filters and pressure regulators are all in one , so im not exactly what the main source was but its gone now .

as for you BANDIT maybe sounds like you got a bad ground wire somewhere possably, since it shuts off when you hit bumps id take a good look under the hood and wiggle some wires while the truck is running and try to narrow it down

I would try checking the CPS (crank position sensor) on the tranny bellhousing. Do a search on this forum and it should get some results...Tj
