mustang TB on XJ?

Default mustang TB on XJ?

would a 98 tb from a mustang GT 4.6L work on the XJ,, it kinda looks that it would work.. do you guys know if it has been done before?

I dont know but sounds kinda cool. I guess you would have to look at how it mounts and all the cables and sensors.

no spot for your MAP sensor...Ford uses a Different IAC and TPS design...it probally "could" be made to work...but for the time and effort. Probably not worth it.

Go ahead and get it. For 1991-up 242ci, I'm sure the mounting pattern is the same four-bolt pattern that Ford and probably Chevvy used, there just may be different provisions for attaching/connecting sensors and the IAC.

If you do have to adapt anything, please take pictures and share your notes!

Since you don't have to fork over for the thing, half of the work is already done for you.

For those who come later, note that the Ford throttle body will not directly bolt to the intake - you'll need to fabricate an adapter plate (most people use 1/2" thick aluminum plate for this purpose.)

I remembered seeing this posted the other day and I just found a site where a guy put a mustang TB on a 4.0 ho stroker here is the link it's a pretty good site.

He tells you step by step what he did to get it to work.

I think I missed something what's the up side to this? Can't you just bore out a jeep tb. And isn't the intake hole only so big? Just wondering what I'm missing.

the only diff I see from the XJ one and the Mustang one, its the slot in the tb,,, the xj has it the mustangs does not,,,, I dont have my xj in my house right now tomorrow she finally comes back,, it was at the mech.... and ill see the similaritys or not

yes you can and yes it is,,, I got it for free,,, thats the only reason why im considering this,, besides that,,, I dont have the money to have the TB bore...
