Must buy starter to get starter solenoid??

1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport, 6 cylinder

I need to buy a starter solenoid. The local auto parts stores only sell the complete starter and starter solenoid assembly. They don't sell just the solenoid. I've found online dealers who sell just the solenoid. So what am I missing? Is it possible to replace just the starter solenoid, or does the starter and solenoid assembly have to be replaced just to get a new starter solenoid?

You can replace either part independently if you wish. If you check with any S&A shop they can get the parts or rebuild your unit for you.

Starter and Alternator...S&A.

If you don't know of any in your area then call a local automotive machine shop, they should be able to tell you where one is.

Back in the day we rebuilt starters and alternators regularly.
