Default MultiMod Help!

Okay, I need to do something. I want to get rid of my AC Comp because its useless, I have a mech fan mount {which is under the ac comp} that has the bearing and shaft gone already. I need it that way to clear an electric fan. Since I am wanting rid of the AC comp I could put my Alt up on top where it is. What will I need?

Its like this,

Ac comp deleted.

Alt relocated to the top where ac was.

My belt will need to be different. The fan pully will be gone, The alt will be up top if I can find out how to mount it there. Anyone get what I am talking about?

Btw this is on my 99XJ.

I think a lot of guys keep the AC compressor in there and turn it into a regular air compressor. That might be easier than trying to change things around a lot.

I thought about that,. I like the thought of having my alt up on top and just remove the AC crap all together because when I built the Jeep I didnt even put the condenser in it so its useless. I will get some pics of what I am wanting for sure. Pics are worth 1000 words.

Here is a 93 model setup. It has the pulley on the bracket below the ac pump.

Here is my 99. I am trying to get the alt up where the ac pump is/was. It is gone already.

LOL! Dont pay no mind to the writing on the front of the valve cover sticker. Damn Bro n cuz in laws done that awhile back.

The bracket under the ac pump that holds the mech fan, I have one extra that already has the bearing and shaft removed.

Where to go from here?

I was going to mod the Alt bracket and put it on top of the Ac pump bracket so the Alt would be on top and then just measure for a new belt. Instead I am going to try and find a MJ bracket for no ac that just has a pulley. Then measure for a new belt.

Then I will have deleted the Ac Pump and all hoses, Deleted Mech Fan,Shaft, and pulley. replaced with an OEM Aux 97+ model Electric Fan,. Then I will be running the Water Pump, Alt, and Power steering and thats it. I know its going to free the ole 4.0 up. Got some other mods coming soon to go with it. Anyone ever done this to a 99 XJ? If so what approx belt length will I be looking at? What is the best way to measure for a new belt? Some kind of twine string? Then lay it out and measure it.

I would think the twine would work.

This modding is coming to a close. I had to go with an 81 1/8" belt after losing the Ac pump and Fan pulley. Electric Fan is in just gotta figure out what Im going to run the hot wire to. So this mod had costed me like 28.00 That is counting the commanche Fan Pulley and AC Pulley Bracket and the Belt. The rest was just a little work. I had to cut some of my front Alt Bracket to let the belt clear. I can actually see the motor with all that crap gone. I should be test running it here in about 30 mins.

id probably try to get a little bigger main fan. are you guna run a thermo switch, fan controler, or just a toggle to turn it on? I run mine off of a on at 193 off at 185 thermo switch and it works great for me. I have also found with fans that if you use a secondary fan (what you are using) the dont have enough poop to cool stuff. I usually try to find a main fan off of something that measures 16in because it fits into stock mech fan shroud nicely.

Best one i have found so far is off of a 96-99 tauraus with the 3.0. it has a 16in,and a 14in elec fan set up. i used the 16 and will some day throw the 14in in my cowl hood for fun

With my setup i never here my stock electric fan come on on the street. i did 7 hrs of wheeling on a 95 degree day at an average speen of 3-10 mpgs and only heard my stock electric fan come one twice (217)

hope any of this helps

I used the new style 10 Blade Aux fan on it. It seems to move more air than my Mech Fan did. I also never put a shroud on it so it should have no problems staying cool now. I didnt have any over heating probs its just something I wanted to do. I will update when I find out what the fan will do. I will let it get up to 210 or so then kick it on and see how fast it drops.

stock mech fan is progressive 800 or close at idle up to 1700 at wot or something like that. the newer style fan is 1800-2200 or close so you should be ok

if you are just guna use a toggle DONT FORGET, AND DO NOT LET ANYONE ELSE DRIVE YOUR JEEP.
