muffler removal!?!!?!?!
ok. inspection is comming up and i have to replace muffler. so i bought a cherry bomb glass-pack for 35 bucks. i took off old muffler clamps and went to slide it off either end. and it wont budge!.. so i tried heating with blow torch for a few seconds to expand the metal. that didn't work. i dont own any type of cutting implement . but i also asked my fellow autozone buddy how i could do it. and he said take a chissle and hammer. and split the muffler pipe. but i cant seem to break through!. any suggestions. needs off soon. =)

Measure how long the cherry bomb is and cut a section about an inch short on either side so it fits in/over the existing pipe. Then clamp it up.
=====/=(insert cherry bomb here)=/=====
Thats about as good as my text diagram skills get.

What I had to do was take a dremel with a cut-off wheel and make horizontal cuts into the muffler pipe without going through the cat pipe to get mine to come off.
You can get a pretty cheap dremel at wal-mart and it comes with a cut-off wheel and other attachments.
just my .02

the pipe only goes in about 2.5 - 3 inches... just get a BFH and chisel and have at it.. or.. you could do the simple thing.. go buy a cordless sawzaw and call it JEEP emergency Equipment. and be done in 30 seconds.. and in the woods.. they work nice to.... yes you can cut a big tree down with one.. :}

I don't know about where you live, but in CO having a cherry bomb glasspack is not considered a muffler for those that live in the "green zone" (AKA Denver) and it won't pass inspection with one on. just a little FYI to look into.
