XJ?2010 03-18-2009 06:05 PM

Yeah more people are running thrush welded as to the turbo which would sound better

funkle95xj 03-18-2009 07:55 PM

The thrush turbo has a very similar design to a Flowmaster 40 series and will give you a similar sound to that. The standard turbo muffler is a bit cheaper and when I had one I liked the sound alot, certainly a nice rumble for a $20 muffler!

the standard meaning the welded?

So i just bought a thrush turbo muffler along with new clamps, some type of exhaust joint sealent paste stuff (it was only a few bucks so i thought i would try it)

The bad this is that the muffler from pipe to pipe is only 18 inches so i bought a peice of tubing that i will just cut to size and that should do it.

In the next month i will be getting a new tailpipe. Im just doing it in stages.

I think i'll install it tomarrow night i'll be sure to get a sound clip when im done.

mark's91-XJ 03-19-2009 04:37 PM

cool lets hear that thing .i will be looking for one too here soon:popcorn:

XJ?2010 03-19-2009 04:45 PM

i know im pumped i would do it tonight but the Xj is still at my school shop for the brakes so i will have it tomarrow.

Quick question should i put the extention before or after the muffler. i heard that you want to put the muffler as far back as possible is this true?

i don't think it matters much but i would put the extension before the muffler unless it was going to cause some fit issues
