I dont want to replace the seats, just move them back. The seats are in great condition so why spend the extra money? lol

Any mine aren't electric either, so it seems like this wont be too hard.
Thanks everyone!

There is a reinforcement under the car that the seats bolt to. Make sure you reinforce the new mount point because if you do ( And I hope you don't) get in an accident, ya don't want the seat to come loose while you're strapped to it! Maybe 1/8 inch steel plate on top and under the floor (like huge washers) to keep the bolts from pulling thru the sheet metal.

Has anyone tried unbolting the drivers seat and moving it back 4-5 inches?
Any thoughts on how much work this would be, or if it's even possible?
Thanks!
really? Im 6'6"-6'7" and I have no issues at all. I mean my *** gets a little sore but I have ample room. I mean with the seat as far back as it goes I find it perfectly fine. I have actually found that with the seats all the way back in most cars there is enough room for bigger guys. Hell, I even drove a mini cooper pretty comfortably. No could sit in the back seat though.
As for your issue, I think that it would be more trouble than its worth.
You may have to reform the humps and redrill holes in the floor where the seats are mounted.

Reinforcing with plates may be difficult , you do realise that the front brackets are up and down (verticle)and bolt from the front and that the rear are flat and bolt from the top down on 97 and up cherokees.. The floors are not flat . The inner brackets set higher because they sit on the trans tunnel. thats why it might be easier to put a flat steel strap on top of the mounts (in the existing mounting brackets and original holes) and redrill some holes in the strap, but i digress , you should look for your self and deceide.

lol. Mini coopers have way more leg room that a XJ. My right knee gets sore after a few hours from awkwardly leaning against/towards the gear shift...
My car is a Honda Accord, and my legs can stretch out further and i find it more comfortable. It's also possible that with the 3-4 more inches you have on me your lets rest differently under the dash...
I dont want to do this if it's going to be a major hassle, but why not be more comfortable if it's easy and safe?? :-)

I am 6'6", 300+ and have been trying to sort the same issue. I eventually plan to open the roof and go up but, I want to do what I can by moving the seat until I can do the extensive mods and cage I want. I have been looking at this pic from the fabrication threads to consider where the hump is without the seats in the way.

This is the eventual remedy.
