So there's a mouse living in my dash. He's declined to dine in my "live" trap, so I'll move on to an old-fashioned snap trap. But I think it's the nest that's blocking the air from the a/c. I get no air at all on the first 3 fan settings. On the 4th setting it roars and vibrates, but very little air. I need to get into the ducts to find the nest. Any advice would be appreciated. For starters, how to get the dash off? Where is the best place to start? Thanks!

aside from your blockage problem it sounds like ur blower motor resistor is toast if ur only getting air on the highest setting.Originally Posted by fresh_air

If you have dogs or cats with food bowls out, you can bet there will be a lot of pet food packed into the HVAC case.
Thanks for the responses, I was hoping there was an easier way to get to into the ducts without the complete dash breakdown. I'll get my mechanic to look at it (he's guessing already that the resistor is toast). I've had chronic mouse problems with this '98 since the first week I bought it. Meanwhile, my old beater '96 , which I've had for 10yrs., sits there next to it -full of crumbs and other debris, but it's mouse-free!

Not sure how he solved it but to trap the mouse use peanut butter as the bait. Rats and mice are drawn to it like a drug due to the sugar oils and fats in it. You should catch it FAST using peanut butter I catch em around my property usually the same day within a few hours.

After taking care of your friend, why don't you first pull the heater blower motor and see if you can get to the nest that way?Originally Posted by fresh_air
