also, the brown dog instructions say to take the 4 trans mount bolts off before doing the motor mounts. do i need to jack up the tranny before removing those bolts or can i remove the bolts without jacking, change the motor mounts and then move to the tranny mount?

AVOID ANCHOR AND DEA BRANDED STUFF LIKE THE PLAGUE
The Omix-Ada stock replacement motor mounts are supposed to be OK, and the Mopar ones are the best stock ones you can get.
IMO - just replace them with some properly designed ones, the factory ones were not the best.

I paid like $160 for the Stinkyfab ones\ (motor + trans mount package), and they look really nice plus have a proprietary poly bushing that is nearly as soft as the stock rubber ones.
Installing them this weekend hopefully. Going to do them both at the same time
And definitely loosen the 4 nuts connecting the cross member to the transmission mount, otherwise the driveline angles aren't going to be 100% where they should be when sitting on all 4 tires. Also do the final torque when sitting on all 4 tires, I usually leave the hardware barely snug until that point.
