Default Motor Swap

My neighbor and I are trying to replace the engine on a 1987 Cherokee. It had a four cylinder TBImotor with a five speed manual. The motor ran before we began, but blew smoke and ran pretty rough so we got a different motor from a parts yard that supposedly ran and came from a 93 wrangler. It is a 2.5 liter (we think) and seems pretty clean. Problem is it won’t start.
We have replaced the TBI injector and it now mists instead of pouring the fuel in. and we can see fuel pooling in the manifold.
There is spark, but we cannot determine if it is at the correct time. We brought it up on TDC on #1 and the rotor is pointing @ the correct wire.
We did a compression test, with the engine cold, and all four cylinders are very close to 60lbs.
We are leaning toward the flywheel position sensor. Flywheel and sensor are from the other engine that did run, if poorly, so we think they are both good. The thing we wonder is if we got the flywheel on wrong and it is out of time.
Any suggestions would help keep us from loosing our minds. We had a 30 day warrantee, which has expired.
Any ideas at all?
Thank You.

We did look at fuel to a degree. figured out the injector was clogged so we just replaced it. now when we look in the throat we can see it fog when pumping throttle. but plugs don't seem to be wet.

Which ECU are you using. The 93 may not run with the 87 ECU. They may not be compatable. I know next to nothing about the 4 bangers but if it were the 4.0L then I can say for certain that they will NOT interchange.

any luck with the flywheel position sensor? I'm about to make the same swap myself, and need to know how to mount the flywheel to the crankshaft and have the timing be correct. I hope someone out there owns a better repair manual than my chilton's.
