Default Motor Questions

I have a 94 Cherokee and i blew the motor last week. I bought a new motor and the guy said that it came out of a 97 regular cherokee but i believe it came out of a Grand Cherokee. Is there any way to tell between the two? They are both 4.0s

Somebody said somewhere they made a 4.0 with different motor mounts. No idea of for that or what, but something you might want to watch. You might find pictures on sites selling blocks/engines.

Its too late at night to even think about reading that mess! His best option kt to check on the engine codes if he is hoping for a direct drop fit.... But be is also going from OBD1 to OBD11. Meh... He should search lol instead of us doing it lol enjoy ur pics.

You should be fine. I don'think those casting changes happened until the XJ was no longer being built(2002+). You'll wnat to use your accessories and sensors from the older engine. Everything else will bolt up.

It will fit and work. Use the original manifolds, sensors etc. Swap it in as if it were a longblock swap. Motor mounts dind't change til after 2000 or 2001?
