motor oil in transfer case. IDEAS?!
So I have a 1991 cherokee Laredo that 274000 miles. Runs and drives good other the needing a tps, tires, u joints.
Well I was inspecting the joints today and noticed motor oil coming from my seal after I removed the ds. My question is why?! It's Pisses me off because now I have to figure out how to remove all the oil with out remixing case. Or will draining and filling with at mixing with leftover oil will it ruin each others properties? I really 0refer the oem fluid and cannot understand why to do this with out problems. 4x4 works near flawless other than occasionally sticking even though new vaccine lines to servos were done. Moving the wheels always fixes this but maybe the motor oil is to blame?
I mainly just want to know people's ideas or experiences or what you have or haven't done or used.

Hi I'm actually looking for some to replace my standard ones. Do you have both driver and passengers sides by chance? Never need windows down and drives me nuts wasting crappy window motor life haha.

Some years ago I found an on-line article about using motor oil in the TC. The article stated it can be done without harm to the TC. As I recall 5W-30 was the motor oil.
In your case. you could drain the motor oil and refill the TC with DEX/MERC, or some other ATF, run it a bit, drain and refill with your favorite ATF. I don't think this will hurt your TC.

Wasn't it Novak or Advance Adapters that provided that info?
