Default Motor fitment question

I have a 99 cherokee sport 4.0L Auto that I blew the motor in. I am wondering if a 4.0L HO out of a 94 grand cherokee will work in my jeep? I'm assuming I will have to swap over any sensors, maybe intake and exhaust manifold etc. but will the meat and potatoes of the block and head all be the same?

Yes the block will fit fine, Reuse your 1999 head intake and all the 1999 acc. from the 1999 jeep.Name: deadhorse.gif

Size: 4.0 KB The engine is out so why not replace all gaskets and oilpump.Clean up everything, check clutch if its a standard. If an auto drain fluid and change filter. This is my opinion only, but I just dont see doing things halfazz myself good luck bud.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to not have to change the head but if so I guess that will be ok. The guy is asking $250 for the motor with 138k on it so it will probably be worth the extra bit of work swapping stuff over.

Well you dont have to really change heads if the 1999 intake lines up with the ports of the earlier head but for one at 250. bucks I'd swap to the 1999 head its better and at what your paying the 250 , you can afford the new head gasket and piece of mind.
