Thought I would throw this out there....TCC solenoid? Don't have a clue but did have a similar issue on a car I had once. Since issue is only in drive made me think of it.

Believe his is a 96...taken from another post he had but then again some people has multiple XJ's so I could be wrong.

I see the answer hasn’t been answered from post #8 but what is fuel psi doing? This seems like a fuel supply issue to me.

So I just did the big 7 jeep cable kit and replaced my fuel pump and no cigar. I know I know I should’ve did a fuel pressure test before replacing the fuel pump. I replaced the fuel pump with a cheap Amazon one about a year ago and was suspect of it. I will grab a kit and do the fuel pressure test tomorrow and see what I find

Fuel pressure is good, 50 psi at idle
