Default More wiring nightmares

If any of you had read my other posts, My Jeep has had alot of problems, especially some wiring issues. It caught fire on the way home from purchasing, But the seller, who I consider a friend and had never drove this Jeep, towed it and replaced some wiring,I was going out of town and he was upset about the ordeal and said he would have it fixed when I got back. Been doing great until today. Other then the fact that he had a jumper wire from the fuse block to the lighting relay under the dash. So my headlights came on whenever the key was on. But it worked fine for the last month. Tonight I was driving on the interstate in traffic, in the dark, And I loose all my lights. I finally get over and out of traffic, Check the jumper wire to the fuse block and the relay and the connections all look good. Shake the relay and instantly the black wire from the relay glows orange and fills the Jeep with smoke. Does anyone have any dealings with this. I plan on replacing the burnt wire tomorrow and trying to find what went wrong. I drove home 7 miles on the interstate in pitch black in the emergency lane, with my g/f behind me lighting the way. I had a turn signal on for extra lighting. Turns and Brake lights work, other lights...nothing

Heres the relay, Doesnt smell burnt I tried another relay from a 91 the other week and it didnt work

And heres the plug, As you can see the black wire is toast, The orange wire was jumped to the fuse panel so it turned on the headlights whenever the key was on, If someone can give me some ideas on how to get rid of this rigging and get some lights back thatd be awesome, Thanks as always, Shorty

looks like that black wire would be a ground an you gave it power somehow.. thats what would hapen it would imediatly burn the whole way up the wire and smoke pretty good

Thats what I was thinking, But I wanted to make sure someone could confirm it was a ground, And then decide where it supposed to go so I can just run a new wire without pulling the entire harness apart

I looked on All Data, and every other wiring diagram I could find and cant seem to find this relay anywhere. None of the diagrams have those color wires coming into a relay. Unless this is possibly the fog light relay? I dont have fog lights on my Jeep but the switch is in the dash? I think I might just try grounding the burnt up wire to a new spot, get rid of the jumper wire bs, And get a new headlight switch ( I think that was the problem to start off with) And go from there, unless anyone has any other suggestions

the fog light relay is in the engine bay beside where you get your air intake from.. and you cant mess anything up trying to ground it so id give it a go.. its more likely a ground then anything else

If the diagram from the 88 is the same as the 87 (it should be) the black is 100% ground

Gotta love duct tape on electrical connections (because that holds out moisture REALLY well )
