Default More transmission problems

Well I have a 99 XJ and it now seams like my transmission has a shift delay it goes up to like 3000rpms then shifts and it's like this for every gear iv searched on here and I'm thinking new shift solenoids but then found a couple with similar problems that they adjusted the kick down cable. Anyone have any ideas?

Check the fluid level?
Just asking because you did not mention that and low fluid could cause that symptom.

Try adjusting your kickback cable first (very simple). If that doesnt work, try taking it to a transmission shop and try pumping the fluid out (not just changing it). If that doesnt help it may be time for a new tranny. My front transmission pump just went out, so I got to drop a used one in. Mine was a completely different problem though. If your fluid whenever its changed/pumped, and its still dark then it may mean that your tranny is built up with alot of sludge and such.

have it replaced the right way. automatic transmission holds 5 gallons of tranny oil. You need to bring it to a garage that has the tranny oil pump. that machine forces out all the oil while replacing it with the new one. Even if the oil looks ok it doesn't mean that its not burnt.

Check kickback cable as This is going to be your cheapest route, first. I would do what some of the other suggested. Have the Transmission fluid Flushed (pumped) and FILTER CHANGED! This will make a Big difference in how your transmission will perform. Then if this does not cure the problem, Then I would go the route of having a shift solenoid checked out. I had to have a shift selenoid put in my AW4 Transmission about a month ago.

You always want to keep up on your transmission fluid as this is the blood of your transmission!

Its true that these tranny's rarely go out!

Also, Before I serviced my AW4 it was constanly downshifting on the smallest of hills. I changed the fluid and filter and WOW...it runs so much better now and does not constantly downshift.

Please post up the cure when you get the Jeep fixed for others to view, it may help them out in the future. Thanks.

If you decide to replace solenoids I have two (1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd) known good ones I would sell for $30 apiece.
