Angry More problems with the 2.8

Ok so it will fire up idle at around 500 RPMS and stay running until you put it in drive and get going than it dies all of a sudden. Does anybody have any advice besides scrapping the Jeep or swapping the motor I dont have the money for the swap yet!
Thank you

I had the same problem on the Blazer Im selling, I ended up changing fuel filter and running some lucas through the tank and no more problems. Is yours carb'd? If so have you checked to see if the choke could be sticking?

X2 on is your 2.8 Carburated or fuel injected?? This makes a big difference in recommendations for troubleshooting your problem.

I don't think the 84-86 Cherokee ever saw TBI on the 2.8

I'd say overhaul the carb/ get it adjusted correctly/ fix the choke

I agree with farmfuel. Those are your typical steps for fuel issues with a carb'd motor.

It is carbed and I sure hope that fixes the problem cause she is a great wheeler and other than this little incident has been extremely reliable just underpowered. Ha Thanks for the advice its always nice to get a second opinion and this forum seems to be the only one that really offers quality help and support. So many thanks Ill go buy a rebuild kit and see what I can do.
