I just spoke with http://www.mrinjector.us/ Bill.. I bought Filters and O rings for my stock units and for some used injectors Boche 784's that are on the way.. He told me for this style Intake spray pattern is not critical if not relevant at all. Thats why Jeep kept using these injectors that shoot gas like a water gun. Spray pattern is critical in OTHER applications but not on the 4 liter because, according to Bill, this style intake will put gas in a READY mode for use during driving and that gas can SIT inside the motor/ head/ cylynder until its used.. So spray patter is meaningless.. Somehting like this he told me.. Im no motor genius.. These guys have all the rebuild parts for the stock injectors. Anyway, I now have in my possession the fords stated here, I have 2 sets of stock injectors that will be refurbished to new, and I have a set of 784's that Im rebuilding with new rings, filters and caps, I will also be ordering the c4b's. When I am done I will have mileage specs on ALL 4 sets of injectors.. I will run two tanks out on each style to see what gas mileage I get.. When im done the results will be exacting.. Right now im lucky to get 15mpg with these fords Im running as stated in this thread. By the time Im done I will have spend hundreds of dollars to rebuild and buy injectors.. So much so i will begin to sell them off.. I even bought a Jewlry cleaner to clean the tips. lol.. All in the persuit of better gas mileage.. Im starting to spend so much on injectors that I wont make it up on gas..
Dont bother buying injectors. You need 784's which are hard to find refurbed. You wont be seeing much if any of a diffrence over stock injectors. You might get better idle and better take off or you might not. Most people see no gains in MPG's.
Buiy this kit and rebuild and clean your stock units.. They put out more top end power in my opinion. Here is teh ebay kit up now:

Ok, I see ALOT of Questions, but few answers concerning the performance gain by using the ford #19's and the better fuel pressure reg, and rail.
On years: 88-90 (91-95 already have the proper pressure @3 bar)
So.....
I went and installed the 19's. they are the volvo ones #0-280-155-746
http://www.witchhunter.com/flowdatapix/b0280155746.jpg
when the fuel rail gets here I'll put that in and the regulator and then do a
write-up on the whole thing with pic's and on my build thread too!
So far I've already noticed an improvement it does not seem so "sluggish"
More to come!

What you have:
4.0L
'96-'98 #53030778 23.2lb/hr @ 49psi
'99-'04 #4854181 22.5lb/hr @ 49psi
2.4L
'96-'02 #53030778 23.2lb/hr @ 49psi
'96-'98, ........53030778, ...Grey, .........49psi, .................23.2lb/hr
'99-'04, .........4854181, ...Blue tip, .....49psi, .................22.5lb/hr
Replacement:
Ford Motorsport 19.0lb/hr @ 39psi (Part no. FMS-M9593-C302)
Ford Motorsport 24.0lb/hr @ 39psi (Part no. FMS-M9593-A302)
Ford Motorsport 30.0lb/hr @ 39psi (Part no. FMS-M9593-B302)
Pre 96 the fuel pressure is lower at 39 PSI.
'91-'93 #33007127 21.0lb/hr @ 39psi
'91-'93, ........33007127, ...Brown, .......39psi, .................21.0lb/hr
The Ford injectors are rated at the same pressure, so yes, you can do this as well..... By using:
Ford Motorsport 24.0lb/hr @ 39psi (Part no. FMS-M9593-A302)
'86-'90, ........53003956, ...Black, ........39psi, .................18.6lb/hr
These would be your direct swap ins...
Ford Motorsport 19.0lb/hr @ 39psi (Part no. FMS-M9593-C302)
I believe they can be found in any newer Mustang with the 4.6L
little math for ya.
Injector size (lb/hr) = (horsepower x 0.5)/(no.of cylinders x 0.8 )
So say you have a 250 horse I6...
100/4.8=21lb/hr injector
So for a 30 lb/hr injector, you would need about a 290 horse motor to utilize them.

Sorry, But I am just getting so confused from all this flow rate and what not, but from what I have read I need the FMS-M9593-C302 For my 89 renix 4.0, is that correct?

Just received a set of these injectors as well, it was an impulse buy actually. Hoping they are a direct fit to my 98 4.0L ZJ.
0280155746, anyone know if these are correct for my application?

I found the O2 at Rock Auto for about $45. It was the first one I ever changed that didn't require heating the bung with a torch. Make sure to use the right socket on it...it's not hard to round off the flats.
The upstream O2 is the one before the catalytic convertor. It is on the driver's side of the motor right under the exhaust manifold. It gives the PCM information on combustion status. In other words, it should help with fuel efficiency by adjusting pulse width. Normally, if an O2 goes bad, it will throw a CEL, however they can respond slowly without throwing a code.

As far as the socket, it's a special socket that allows for the wires to pass through. A standard socket won't work and an open end will likely round off the flats. I don't think the plug will fit through a box end, so you pretty much need to use the right tool.

But I don't see why the slotted one wont work.
Maybe a different retaining clip?
