Default Mopar trailer hitch from a 2000 xj going on my 1990 Xj

will a trailer hitch from a 2000 xj bolt onto my 1990 Xj ... and it comes with the factory wiring harness... I assume I can not use that ... So will it just bolt on or will I have to mod it to work... and i searched this... I came up with nothing... thanks and it is a factory Mopar one...

Yes direct bolt in but you might have to find the bolts for the driver side frame rail though go back to the jeep you pulled it form and the bolts in the 2000 frame rail and some that came from the factory with out a hitch dont have those boles their

There are nut strips that allow to bolt things to the uniframe, like a hitch reciever, or a gas tank skid. If the jeep did not come with a tow package then only the passenger nut strip exists and you would need to buy the drivers side one. My suggestion is to buy the pair in case you have rust issues with the passenger side. Jcr has them, as well as morris 4x4.

No drilling.

Like Crispy said, get a new set of nutstrips. One in each frame rail and you are good to go and you will have significantly increased the strength of the rear of your subframe. Mopar actually calls the nutstrips "sill reinforcement brackets" or something to that effect.

Search for the location of the trailer hitch wiring (it came on all XJ's IIRC) I believe it's behind the plastic panel behind the spare tire but can't remember for sure. If you find it you probably can use the factory wiring that came with the hitch you have.
