If it sputtered your getting spark then, sounds like the motor is poorly grounded though. Did you clean it up?( see above post)

It sputterd only once and I haven't been able to get it to again. And I upgraded all the grounds and it is getting power to the ICM.

Could there be a key ignition problem like its not turning far enough?

Found that the single wire connector that plugs into the ICM isn't getting the 5 volt power it supposed to.

Did you find the cause? If not, what's the wire color?

No i tried to trace the wire back but it must change colors in mid harness and the color at the connector is orange with a black stripe.

Well it definitely orange with a black stripe and my 86 MJ with a 90 XJ 4.0 in it has the same color on the single wire connector.
